Form rejection.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer you representation at this time. Due to the large number of submissions Susan receives, she is forced to be extremely selective when considering new clients. After reflection, we don't feel that this is a perfect fit for Susan's list. Publishing is very subjective, however, and another agent may well feel differently. That said, you are welcome to submit to another Writers House agent.

I sincerely apologize for the impersonal nature of this reply—we receive hundreds of submissions a month.

Thank you again for thinking of Susan. We wish you all the best of luck in the future.

Best,

Catherine

A wonderful lit agent with an incredible experience: YA Romance 53K

EQ: 9/19/23
Full Request from Catherine Bradshaw, Susan's assistant: 11/7/23
Personalized rejection with TONS of actionable feedback: 12/7/23

I asked if I could send in a revised version on 12/7/23. Catherine agreed on 12/28/23 -- turned into an R&R.

R&R submitted 1/3/24. YA Romance 78K.
Another personalized rejection on 3/5/24 -- not the perfect fit.

Catherine and Susan were very communicative and thoughtful in their response letter. I could tell they took the time to actually read through my story. Although I'm sad it didn't result in an offer, I can honestly say that I'm a better writer and that I've grown because of them. I HIGHLY recommend querying Susan, and I will be sure to query with my next project if it meets her genres.
