I had a call with this agent. We have mutual connections on LinkedIn, and I reached out. While I appreciate that he took the time to briefly chat, it was very clear that this was not the agent for me. Though he knew almost nothing about my project, he insisted it was a different genre than what I was saying, and when I questioned him about it, he said to send him my manuscript. Over a week later, he called me, didn't remember that I sent him the manuscript so he didn't read it, but then again insisted it was a different genre than what I was telling him. Very strange interaction and not the person for me.

I have to chime in with the majority of the other responses here. Five words, without a salutation or a signature block is... quite... rude... when a form letter is so very easy to create.
I do appreciate it over a CNR, to some degree, but it's abrasive and speaks to a personality type that is *clearly* not a match for me.

It's an unfortunate way to respond to someone sending you something they created. I appreciate the honesty, but acknowledging the work would have been a good feeling, even if it was scripted response.
"Thank you for the reply. I appreciate you taking the time to review my query and for the thoughtful response. Enjoy your weekend."

Thank you for your quick response. I would appreciate a quick response to what you are looking for in a children's book and what my story needs to meet that criteria.Please.
