Upmarket fiction/magical realism, queried through email this morning, received the same rejection as most others here ("Thanks but not for me") ninety minutes later

Agree with whoever said the way to get a response is via email. Out of curiosity, I submitted both ways and only got a response through the email.

6/3/25: Email queried Danielle Svectov, she said it was a strong pitch but not for her and that she’d pass it along in the agency. Two hours later I got a full request from Victoria.

7/1: Offer of Rep and phone call. I instantly hit it off with Victoria. She’s absolutely lovely and so funny and patient. I didn’t feel rushed at all asking all of my questions.

7/8: Accepted offer after withdrawing from the other agents with fulls. I just knew no one was going to sway me from her. I talked to some of her clients and even looked through her clients’ books at the bookstore to see their acknowledgments. All glowing for her.

I just adore Victoria already, she’s everything my last agent wasn’t, she’s very well-connected in the industry, and she’s so quick with communication.

The agency as a whole seems like a great place.
