I know agents filter submissions by genre a lot of the time, and I've been feeling that Melanie has left her YA/ YA fantasy submissions for later? It's been 50 days since my query, and I'm wondering if any other YA authors are in the same boat?

@NanaNita I would say, as a general rule, avoid querying on the weeks of major holidays and vacation time frames. I am going to guess that the second week of January will be a great approximate timeframe to begin queries as agents will be fresh from holiday breaks and ready to start building lists for the new year. This is just my educated guess, I have no real insight into the industry.

I am wondering if anyone knows the real algorithm to be seen as a good manuscript. Is there times when the agent will just work with you to make it what it needs to be or does it just have to be? I haven’t heard back yet from the agent. This is more of a general question.
